The 3135 clones are simply more sensitive to oiling and proper adjustment of parts to get it performing up to par. The A3135 from this review was fully cleaned and oiled according to the Rolex spec sheet. Prior to September 2023, the only movement available for DayDate movements was the asian clone of the ETA 2836 movement (see above for images of the clone ETA 2824 movement since the 2836 looks the same from the balance side).Gen Rolex 3135. Note, there is a VS3130 version of this movement which is used on the no-date 40mm VSF subs (ref number 114060).
My recommendation: the SH3135 is really the older dinosaur of the 3135 clone movements. If possible, I would look for the VR option, at the very least. However, you do have the option of replacing parts with other clone movements, in case anything break. I suspect that the Rolex 3135 movement is more robust in its rate than the ETA 2892-A2 due to the use of a free sprung balance spring with variable inertia balance wheel as opposed to the index design of the ETA 2892-A2 which is more easily jostled out of regulation.
The leading factory of true clone Rolex movement is the Dangdong factory from China. The Dangdong factory produces: The VS3135 movement we find in VSF 40mm Submariners and 40mm YachtMasters etc.
Look at the 3135 stem height, and then search for a movement with the same one. Not about the same, exactly the same. If it exists, you have a shot. Otherwise it's a lost cause. The 3135 clone seems like a good candidate, assuming it's really a clone. In particular I keep seeing that a 3135-style movement will not fit into a case intended for a 2824 or similar ETA movement, which is what most of the stock out there apparently is geared towards.
