However, even a good copy can’t finesse the taste, meticulousness, and details that distinguish an original Speedmaster from a fake one. And where would you find such a Cosmic for € 300-400? I have been looking for some time and haven't found anything similar. On Chrono24 some of these are sometimes for sale for even more than €800.
Is there any indication on the outside this is a fake? There is no Omega sign in the middle of the crystal but not sure it is common on this type of watch. No omega sign on the crown as well (but it can be replaced at some time). The hands may be Omega - but not for this watch. Cosmics are a bit "unusual" to work on. There are special tools to open the case (the correct number of the tool is marked on the caseback) or one needs to use compressed air (through the stem) to open the frontloader case.
The Cosmic 2000 is relatively unknown (compared to a SMPO for example) so the fake market is extremely limited. As it has a stainless caseback I'd say it's gold filled (plated), the bracelet would be the same. I wouldn’t be concerned that it’s an outright fake, but a frankenwatch. Based on these two pictures, I think it’s a fine example of a 70’s cosmic. Why in the world would you wait until after you purchased it to ask if you got scammed? What would you have done if @BenBagbag had said "yes, it's fake"? I bought this recently and fairly cheaply, is it a fake? I realise the serial number isn’t on the back, but I have seen others with the same back and then pictures of the inside with serial number and omega visible so I think some models just might not .
