I purchased a very similar Datejust II as my first Rolex. I felt that it was just super versatile, classic and the price was within my budget. This piece is absolutely stunning too. But the most important thing is buy what you truly like. I've always liked the Datejust and it was my first entry to Rolex back in 1989 when I bought a new 16233. Still have it and wear it today. Have to admit though, I wear my Sub (16610) and GMT (16710) far more often but I no longer wear suits and live in a rural part of Idaho now.This is my first Rolex, and I have to say, I am over the moon with it. So, I'd go with a GMT over any version of the 41mm DJ. Now, what I am looking for exactly is a "very simple" Datejust 36, not two tone, rather with a white or silver dial (with "baton" index) and a jubilee bracelet. So far it looks pretty simple but what I wanted to know is your feedback on the various different references out there (e.g. 160xx series are better than the 162xx serie). I’ll share everything you want to know about the specs, wearability, and quality of this Rolex classic, along with how it may have very well changed by wearing habits and watch tastes forever. Six months ago, I bought a Datejust 41 and have been wearing it . hi - I will be buying my first Rolex soon and decided to go with the Datejust over the Oyster Perpetual. I'm pretty set on 126234 (oyster steel/white gold, fluted, jubilee) For dial color, I was leaning blue because I thought they didn't have the config I wanted in black but visited my AD today and they said they can order it.
